The Poeschel Verlag · for Economy · Tax Law GmbH is a professional and scientific publisher , based in Stuttgart . The publishing house was created in 1992 through the merger of Carl Ernst Poeschel Verlag and Schäffer Verlag für Wirtschaft und Tax .

Carl Ernst Poeschel Verlag, founded in Leipzig in 1902 , is the oldest specialist business book publisher in Germany. Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag was a subsidiary of the Handelsblatt publishing group , which in turn belonged to the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group . On June 1, 2009, the Handelsblatt publishing group was taken over by Dieter von Holtzbrinck Medien GmbH, but Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag remained with the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group.

On November 18, 2013, the Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag was taken over by the Haufe Group .

Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag covers the entire spectrum of economic and tax law specialist literature from a practical and scientific perspective. Approx. 100 novelties appear each year ; the backlist currently comprises around 600 available titles, including standard works such as:

The textbook series finance and taxes (so-called blue series), basic course in tax law, the Poeschel collection and practical business studies have their permanent place in university education. The editions of the Handelsblatt and the company are also published by Schäffer-Poeschel. There is also the trade journal Zeitschriftführung und Organization (zfo). Die Betriebswirtschaft (DBW) continued to appear until 2016 .
