history

The company was founded in 1973 by Regula and Werner Schölly in Denzlingen. The core business at that time was cold light lighting for microscopy .

With the development of an optomechanical control sensor for industrial bottle filling by Krones AG , a project arose in 1983 that enabled further growth. In 1985 the production area was expanded for the first time, which created space for further products as well as the first series production of medical endoscopes. At the same time, the company entered the field of "service for medical devices". This repair service for equipment from all manufacturers worldwide was the gap in the market and the basis for further growth.

In 1993, exclusively developed devices for visualization in medicine and industry became the company's core topic. In 1998 Aesculap AG acquired a stake in Schölly Fiberoptic GmbH. From this investment until 2015, Harald Stallforth was part of the management team at Schölly.

In April 2007 the company inaugurated its third production building. In February 2012, Schölly Fiberoptic GmbH expanded its management as part of the company's strategic alignment. With Dirk Barten and Harald Haigis, two members of the management moved up to the management. In July 2013 Mirko Beiser became a member of the management. In 2013 the company invested eight million euros in its fourth plant.

On November 1, 2014, Holger Reinecke succeeded founder Werner Schölly as CEO. Werner Schölly, who was considered a pioneer in medical technology, died in March 2016. In September 2016, Dirk Barten left the company. At the beginning of March 2019, Harald Haigis left the management.

In 2018 Schölly wins the German Aviation Innovation Award in the "Cross Innovation" category.

On July 15, 2019, Intuitive Surgical, the manufacturer of da Vinci® surgical systems, will take over the 3D robotic endoscopy business from Schölly Fiberoptic.

In November 2019, Ms. Schölly received the Baden-Württemberg Business Medal.

Schölly Fiberoptic is a member of the trade association for industrial companies in Baden .
