Schönau is located in the west of the urban area of Lindau

Schönau is one of the ten districts of the large district town of Lindau (Lake Constance) . With a population of 316 according to the census of May 25, 1987, it is the smallest district.

Schönau is located north of the Lindau district of Hoyren , separated from it by the Entenberg . In the northeast and northwest are the districts of Unterreitnau and Oberreitnau , in the east Hochbuch . In the west Schönau borders on the municipality of Bodolz . The Nonnenbach rises north of Schönau am Dachsberg .

Schönau belongs to the district of Hoyren, which corresponds to the former (until it was incorporated into Lindau on February 1, 1922) municipality Hoyren.
