Schönbuchlauf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schönbuchlauf (official name Naturpark Schönbuchlauf ) is a fun run that has been organized since 1974 over a distance of 25 kilometers. The start and finish of the landscape run in the Schönbuch Nature Park , which has been taking place in October 2011, is in Hildrizhausen at the Schönbuchhalle, hosted by TSV Hildrizhausen .

history

The event was founded in the early days of the popular run movement. After the half marathon distance outstripped the 25 km distance in popularity in the 1980s , the Schönbuch run was one of the few traditional runs that held onto the original distance. Also, there are still none of the side runs over shorter distances that are customary today in the program. After a record at the 29th Schönbuch Run in 2002 with 1362 runners at the finish, the number of participants had declined significantly in recent years. Since the decline in participants is also due to the conflict of dates with the Bottwartal Marathon , which has been held since 2004 , the decision was made in 2011 to move the date from the third to the first Sunday in October. However, the number of participants in 2011 fell again significantly compared to 2010.

The course record of 1:20:31 h set by Meinrad Beha in 1984 lasted for 27 years before it was beaten in 2011 by the Kenyan runner Philip Kiptoo Rutto with a final time of 1:19:05 h. The course record for women is 1:33:39 hours, which Gudrun De Pay achieved in 1988.

Route

The route leads from Hildrizhausen over a 25-kilometer loop on forest and forest paths through the Schönbuch. From the starting level at 490  m , it goes through the Große Goldersbachtal down to the Teufelsbrücke at kilometer 11, at 390  m the lowest point on the course. Then it goes through the Kleine Goldersbachtal towards the north, until about the fork oak at kilometer 20 with 576  m the highest point of the route is reached. Then the route falls slightly again to the finish in Hildrizhausen. Refreshment points can be found at kilometers 11, 16 and 21. A total of around 250 meters of altitude has to be overcome.
