Schöne Ecken is a podcast about urban culture, the sumptuous and aesthetic . The podcasters Cornelis Kater, Helge Kletti (2011–2014) and Sven Sedivy (2014-) listen to their living environment and talk about what there is to see. In the first few episodes, the starting point of these urban journeys was the state capital of Lower Saxony, Hanover , and since then interesting places in Germany, Europe and occasionally beyond. There are episodes from the Ihme-Zentrum, the kiosks in Linden and from Hanover's red-light district. Each episode has a series of photos that can be seen in the podcast. The photos also mark chapters that can be jumped to in the podcast. Depending on the playback device used, you can switch directly to the respective topic or see where the podcasters are currently on the move and what they are seeing there. So while the podcast is running, the player or device shows a picture that matches what is being heard.
The podcast continues to expand the boundaries of the format by switching between radio play, radio feature and documentation as well as the classic podcast discussion format. Episode 100 was performed live in a cinema and produced in Dolby Digital multi-channel sound, while episode 150 was designed as an improv radio play that was recorded on location. Further special topics are a series about image films of cities, architecture in computer games and field recording.
Since the summer of 2016, the podcast has been using a specially developed technique called VirtualStereoscope, which aims to reproduce the atmosphere of a place as spatially as possible.
In 2017 (Northern Italy) and 2018 (Spain / Basque Country) there were two extensive series about a continuous tour in a European region.
In addition to the regular episodes, the podcast has also been offering video teasers on Vimeo since 2016.
Schöne Ecken was recognized by DRadio Wissen as a network project in 2011, recommended by Grafschafter Nachrichten and was already a guest at Wrint by Holger Klein .
