Schützmeister & Quendt

Protective Meister & Quendt ( SQ or S & Q ) was the name of the 19th century in Thuringia founded porcelain - and dolls - manufacturer based in Boilstädt .

history

The company was founded in 1889 by Philipp Schützmeister and Wilhelm Quendt and was based in what was then Uelleberstrasse 71 . Doll heads and whole dolls made of biscuit porcelain as well as jointed and rag dolls were produced there.

After the First World War in 1918 doll heads were only for the doll manufacturers Kämmer & Reinhardt as well & Co. Welsch made. At the time, these companies belonged to the parent company called Concentra , which Schützmeister & Quendt also joined.

SQ made tea dolls , porcelain dolls and doll heads until around 1930 .

Brands and form numbers

Schützmeister & Quendt scratched their intricate initials SQ and S & Q into the porcelain heads after the fire, together with the numbers of the molds used. So far, the following mold numbers have been found: 101, 102, 201, 204, 252, 300, 301 and 1376 .
