Several apple varieties that are common in Germany , Austria , Belgium and the Netherlands are referred to as sheep's nose .

shape

It is characterized by the cone shape, with the fruit tapering towards the calyx, in contrast to the shape of the pears. An alternative name for certain varieties is therefore "Quince apple".

  • Big striped sheep nose
  • Rheinische Schafsnase or Rote Schafsnase (on the Rhine , Thuringia )
  • Schaapsneus or Keuleman ( South Limburg , Belgium )
  • Styrian sheep nose
  • White sheep's nose or white winter deafening (on the Rhine and Main)
  • White winter sheep's nose (southern and central Germany)
