Shai Moshe Piron ( Hebrew שי פירון, Born January 25, 1965 in Kfar Vitkin , Israel) is an Israeli rabbi , educator and politician .

Life

Piron received his semichah as a rabbi and was co-leader of the Hesder yeshiva in Petach Tikwa . He is the CEO of Ha-Kol le-Chinuch ( Hebrew הַכֹּל לחִנּוּךְ; lit. "everything for education"). He founded Amutat Zohar ( Hebrew עֲמֻתָּת צֹהַר; also Tzohar organization ) and is involved in many projects that try to resolve differences between the Orthodox and the secular. Piron is a representative of religious Zionism and a member of the Yesh Atid party . In 2013 he was appointed Minister of Education , replacing Gideon Sa'ar . In May 2015, he was replaced by Naftali Bennett as Minister of Education.
