Direction of sound event

In the acoustic describing sound event toward the direction in which a sound event of a sound source emanates.

For a given sound event direction there is an associated auditory event direction that is perceived by the listener. It is the determination of the localization of the heard direction of the sound source (directional localization ).

Directional perception is ultimately the assignment of the direction of the auditory event brought to consciousness by the ear to the direction of the sound event. Together with the distance hearing , the directional perception forms the spatial perception of the hearing .
