The Lochmühle Schanze is a defunct rampart in the Wehrheim district , about two kilometers east of Obernhain im Taunus . Due to a lack of finds, the complex could not be dated to date. Cohausen once suspected that it was formed at the same time as the Preussenschanze , i.e. during the coalition wars . On the other hand, he expresses, like Fabricius, that this could be a Roman training camp. This would be unusual in that the camp would have been in front of the Limes with the forts Saalburg and Lochmühle .

The facility itself is square, with a size of 28 meters by 28 meters. Wall and moat are interrupted on the south corner , which could indicate an entrance. Otherwise the corners are rounded.

Monument protection

The area of the ski jump is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
