Shaqlawa ( Kurdish شەقڵاوە, Sheqlawe ; Arabic شقلاوة, DMG Šaqlāwa ) is a small town in the Kurdistan Autonomous Region in Iraq. The city belongs to the Erbil Governorate and is about 966 m above sea level. on Mount Safin. Schaqlawa is located about 51 km northeast of Erbil , the capital of Kurdistan, on a highway that leads to Piranshahr in Iran.
