Scharf & Hauk, Mannheim was a German company with headquarters in Mannheim that manufactured keyboard instruments.

Scharf & Hauk, Mannheim was founded in 1867 by Christian Scharf († 1893), who later brought his son-in-law Wilhelm Hauk († 1932) into the company, and from then on produced keyboard instruments such as pianos , grand pianos and harpsichords in-house. Over the years, the pianoforte factory with steam operation has received numerous titles, received great recognition and has long been considered the market leader in its branch. The company became famous for its unusually robust and unusual construction, which is still one of the largest and heaviest of all times. The height of a piano started at about 1.45 m and weighed between 380 and 400 kg.

Bombed out in World War II

After the company was completely bombed out towards the beginning of the Second World War in 1940, production remained completely closed and did not open again.

Piano maker and tuner Waldemar Lutz from Schwetzingen, based in Mannheim, said about the production: "Great instrument with a rich, unmistakable sound, robust construction, which has made the piano work for centuries."
