Christian Schärf

Christian Schärf (born December 24, 1960 in Ludwigshafen ) is a German literary scholar , essayist , novelist and presenter. He currently teaches as an adjunct professor at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literary Studies at the University of Hildesheim .

Life

Christian Schärf passed the Abitur examination at the state Carl-Bosch-Gymnasium in Ludwigshafen / Rhein in 1980 and then studied German Philology , Romance Philology and Philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In 1993 he did his doctorate on “Goethe's Aesthetics. A Genealogy of Scripture "from Bruno Hillebrand to Dr. phil. In 1998 he completed his habilitation at the University of Mainz . He received the Venia Legendi for modern German literary history. From 1998 to 2007 he was a professor at the University of Mainz. Since 2007 he has been teaching at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literary Studies at the University of Hildesheim in the courses of creative writing and cultural journalism as well as literary writing and proofreading. He has lectured as a visiting professor at the University of Bologna (2002 and 2004), the University of Valencia (1991 and 1999) and the University of Dijon (1994 and 1995).

From 1989 to 2006 he was responsible for the supervision and implementation of the poetry lectureship at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz , and from 2002 he was solely responsible. Between 2007 and 2012 he worked as a reviewer for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . Between 2010 and 2017, 16 of his radio essays were broadcast on SWR 2 -Essay. These include essays on the tension in detective novels , the phenomenon of charisma , the rhetoric of flirting and the philosophical problem of contingency .

Since 2012 he has been moderating regularly at lit.Cologne , Phil.Cologne and lit.RUHR , including events with Eva Menasse , Robert Seethaler , Martin Walser , Uwe Timm , Karen Duve , Rüdiger Safranski .

Christian Schärf is married and has three children.
