Aisthesis Verlag is a literary and cultural studies specialist publisher founded in 1985 and based in Bielefeld .

Publishing management

The publishing house was founded by Detlev Kopp and Michael Vogt . Both studied first in Münster, then at Bielefeld University, where they did their doctorate in the early 1980s with a literary dissertation on Christian Dietrich Grabbe . Detlev Kopp is honorary professor at the University of Osnabrück .

The focus is on publications on literary and cultural studies, but media studies, philosophy, history, psychology and literature are also represented.

The publishing house is active in the field of literary and cultural studies with various series, e.g. B. Philology and cultural history , modern studies , postcolonial studies in German studies , cultures of the comic , Vormärz studies . Printed bibliographies form a separate section, most recently u. a. to Christian Kracht , Heinrich Mann , Daniel Kehlmann . The publishing house has been maintaining the form of the essay with its own series since 1992 , and the literature commission for Westphalia and the Nyland Foundation also publish here on Westphalian literature. From 1997 to 2010 Aisthesis published the communications of the German Association of Germanists , and since 2015 the comparative periodicals Colloquium Helveticum and Comparative Literature .

In the field of text editions , the starting point was the edition of works and letters by Georg Herwegh in 2005 , taken care of by Ingrid Pepperle . Since 2009, which are essays and journalism of Heinrich Mann edited. Aisthesis Verlag has the German-language rights to the works of Georg Lukács , and the yearbook of the International Georg Lukács Society is also published here .

AISTHESIS ARCHIVE makes texts accessible that have been forgotten or have never been published before - including several by the author Wilhelm Speyer . The VORMÄRZ ARCHIVE has existed since 2014, starting with a report by Georg Weerth about the Cologne Cathedral Festival in 1848 and the correspondence between Fanny Lewald and Adolf Stahr .

Aisthesis psyche (until 2012 Edition Sirius ) brings together contributions from the fields of psychotherapy, psychology and philosophy. Contributions by well-known representatives of these directions for the maintenance and promotion of physical and mental health as well as for the treatment of disorders and illnesses suffered in the life process are published here. The main author is Hilarion Petzold , founder of integrative psychotherapy. The focus of the publishing program is on works in the field of integrative therapy . However, the edition is open to contributions from all psychotherapy schools. Accordingly, influences from philosophy, psychology and art as well as Western and Far Eastern spirituality can be found in the publications.
