Bruno Hillebrand

Bruno Hillebrand (born February 6, 1935 in Düren ; † March 31, 2016 ) was a writer and literary scholar .

Life

After studying literature , art and philosophy in Munich , Vienna and Berlin , he received his doctorate in 1963 and completed his habilitation in Munich in 1969, since 1971 he has been professor of German literature at the University of Mainz and since 1978 a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz . 1981/82 he was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. 1984 Writer in Residence at the University of Texas at Austin. Visiting professor at various times at the Imperial University of Kyoto, Japan and in the USA. Professional engagements on behalf of the DAAD in India, Australia, New Zealand, Korea. Hillebrand's main areas of work are essays , poetry , novels and poetic aesthetics.
