University professorship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The university lecturer is a position in the teaching staff of a university in Baden-Württemberg . The official title of the post holder is "University Lecturer". This position in the group of university lecturers was introduced in 2007 with an amendment to the State University Act. With this office the concept of a teaching professorship is implemented.

description

University lecturers are civil servants according to salary group W 2 or are employed with a corresponding remuneration. The lectureship can be limited in time. The prerequisite for the appointment as a university lecturer is usually a junior lectureship , a junior professorship or a habilitation .

The University Act assigns university lecturers to the group of university lecturers , which also includes professors and junior professors. University lecturers are not entitled to use a special title associated with their office. In particular, they are not allowed to call themselves “professors” - despite the W2 salary that is provided for professors. However, the University Act allows the title of professor to be conferred within the framework of an unscheduled professorship .

The GDR's university teachers' appointment regulation (HBVO) recognized university professors as university lecturers and professors who were appointed to associated permanent positions at universities and scientific colleges and were paid in two graded salary groups. University lecturers in the GDR are entitled to use the special academic title of "university lecturer" (abbreviated: lecturer; lecturer). However, they are not allowed to call themselves “professors”, but the HBVO made it possible for them to be awarded the title of professor as part of an “unscheduled professorship”.
