from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schatzwalzer is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 418). The work was written in 1885 and was performed for the first time on November 22nd of the same year in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The composer has put the work together based on motifs from the operetta Der Zigeunerbaron . It thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 417 , 419 , 420 , 421 and 422 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The waltz consists of four parts, each of which takes up a musical number from the operetta. The playing time is about 8 minutes plus minus a few seconds depending on the musical concept of the respective conductor.
