Bridal show polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brautschau-Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 417). The work was performed for the first time on November 29, 1885 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta Der Zigeunerbaron . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 418 , 419 , 420 , 421 and 422 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The composer's main theme is the couplet by the pig farmer Zsupán, which actually does not correspond to the title: Yes, writing and reading have never been my business . Perhaps the composer was trying to make a joke. In terms of name, other pieces would have been more suitable, which Strauss then built into the hussar polka .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 16 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
