The Schaus Ice Rises are a group of small ice domes on the coast of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . They rise from the Wilkins Ice Shelf in an east-west orientation directly in front of the north side of the Eroica Peninsula .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them using aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1967 to 1968 and Landsat photographs from 1972 and 1973. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them after Commander Richard Schaus of the US Navy, who was responsible for aerial operations in the Department of Polar Programs at the National Science Foundation from 1979 to 1980.
