The Carl Fr. Scheer GmbH + Co. KG , based in Willstätt-Sand in Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg is a German import and wholesale company for specialty cheeses . Scheer is the exclusive distributor of many major cheese brands in Germany.

history

The company was founded by Carl Friedrich Scheer in Stuttgart in 1893 as a cheese specialty shop. He also imported from Switzerland, Italy and France, where he had previously worked in various dairy companies. After his death in 1909, his son-in-law Hermann Scheer took over the shop with the attached wholesalers. His son Dietrich Scheer joined the company in 1946 and first had to help rebuild the factory building that had been destroyed in the war. When the import of cheese into the Federal Republic of Germany was liberalized in 1952, the import business could be expanded considerably. In 1962, Dietrich Scheer took over the management of the company and relocated the headquarters of the growing company to Willstätt-Sand in 1971 for reasons of space. In 1974 the founder's great-grandson, today's managing partner Andreas Scheer, joined the company. In 1990 the cold storage hall was destroyed by a major fire and had to be rebuilt.

Structure, key figures and range

Scheer has a range of 2000 cheese specialties from around 120 cheese manufacturers and exporters from various European countries. There are several delivery branches in Germany, as well as our own sales representatives throughout Germany and a sales cooperation with a West German partner company in the same industry. The company number is BW 338. The range also includes over 400 raw milk cheeses , over 100 organic cheeses, a selection of lactose-free cheeses and specialties from the so-called "white line" (yogurt, crème fraiche, cream, cream and others).
