After the rejection by the voters of the Veltheim community on April 5, 2009, the remaining four communities of Oberflachs, Schinznach-Bad, Schinznach-Dorf and Villnachern initially pursued a new merger project for a community of Schinznach. This project was unsuccessful on October 25th, 2009 when the voters of Villnachern rejected the project.
