Scherefname
Scherefname (شرف نامه / Šarafnāma ) is a book by the Kurdish poet and historian Şerefhan , published in 1597, and an important source of Ottoman and Kurdish historiography.
The work was written in the Persian language . An original is in the Oxford library . The Scheref name has been translated into various languages in many ways. In 1669 it was translated into Ottoman by a descendant of Şerefhan named Muhammed bin Ahmed Bey Mirza and again in 1681 by an author named Semi . In 1930 the Kurdish teacher Süleyman Savcı from Diyarbakir translated it into Turkish . However, these are individual works that are stored in libraries.
It was translated into Russian as early as 1860 and into French in 1868 . Between 1853 and 1856 the Austrian Heinrich A. Barb translated the work into German . The Iraqi Kurd Muhammed Ali Avni translated the book into Arabic in Cairo in 1948 . Mehmed Emîn Bozarslan translated the work from Arabic into Turkish and published it in 1971 (2nd edition 1976 and 3rd edition 1990).
