Schiaparelli is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon . It lies in the plain of Oceanus Procellarum between Seleucus in the west and Herodotus in the east. The rim of the crater is little eroded. To the east of Schiaparelli, the Dorsa Burnet run in a north-south direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli .
