Moving floor , also known as sliding floor , is the name of a hydraulically driven, moving floor that is used in conveyor and vehicle technology. Thanks to the seamless structure of the floor, piece goods as well as bulk goods can be transported automatically.

The floor consists of movable slats that are moved by a hydraulic drive and convey the respective goods in one direction or in the opposite direction.

function

Schematic process

The sliding floor consists of slats that can be moved lengthways and interlock without any gaps between them. Arranged next to each other, these longitudinal tracks are divided into zones. Each of these zones is driven by hydraulic cylinders and moves the individual segments in a predetermined direction.

The process (here the unloading of a semi-trailer ):

  • The first longitudinal track is pushed forward under the load (away from the unloading edge).
  • The second longitudinal sheet is pushed forward under the load.
  • The third longitudinal track now moves forward under the load.
  • All profiles, and thus also the load, move together in the direction of the unloading edge.

This process is repeated until the unloading position is reached.

Applications

Vehicle technology

The advantage of moving floor trailers is that they can be used flexibly, as both general cargo and loose goods can be transported. With a high usable volume of the truck trailers of up to 100 m³, these vehicles are particularly suitable for the transport of bulky and light, loose goods. Loading can be done horizontally from the side or through the rear of the trailer. The truck needs a hydraulic pump as a power take-off to operate a moving floor trailer.

This system also offers an advantage in vehicle technology in halls with low ceiling heights and on soft surfaces, because goods can be unloaded without tools. The trailer does not have to be tipped during unloading.

Conveyor technology

The moving floor system is used for loading and dosing in special bunkers and offers a space-saving, even discharge of materials that are difficult to transport thanks to the low-maintenance construction in the conveyor technology. Typical applications are, for example, charging the boiler with wood chips or the transport of large-volume bulk goods in industrial companies or waste management companies .
