history
The company comprises operating companies in 19 countries and produces at 18 production sites. In 2015, Schiedel GmbH generated sales of 170 million euros. The number of employees as of December 31, 2019 was 1,400. In 2019, the company generated sales of EUR 200 million.
Since the company was founded by Friedrich Schiedel in Erbach near Ulm in 1946 , the company has participated in many developments under its various owners. The Schiedel Group was founded in 1967, which was taken over by Braas / Redland in 1990. In 1998, Schiedel was taken over by Lafarge Roofing , a provider of roof components. Then Schiedel GmbH was part of the Braas Monier Building Group (formerly Lafarge Roofing). Since 2017, Schiedel has been part of the BMI Group, which is part of the American private company Standard Industries.
Products
Schiedel manufactures chimney and chimney systems made of ceramic and stainless steel for residential and functional buildings. In addition, ventilation systems are produced that ensure automatic ventilation of the rooms. In addition to the manufacture of the individual systems, there are also accessories.
The main product lines include:
- Ceramic chimney / chimney systems: The systems consist of a ceramic inner pipe, insulation that is attached around the pipe and a mantle brick.
- Stainless steel chimney / chimney systems: Schiedel also offers stainless steel chimney / chimney systems for different and flexible applications.
