Ship launch on Mjösjön
The ship is set at Mjösjön near Umeå in the province of Västerbotten County in Sweden .
At Mjösjön , south of Umeå , there is a small burial ground (Umeå stad 7: 3). Here you will find next to two stone cairns and stone setting , the northernmost historic stone ship ( Swedish Skeppssättning ) of Sweden. It has a size of about 16.0 × 4.0 m.
When the ship's setting, restored in 1970 , was erected in the Bronze Age , it was located directly on the coast. Due to the land uplift (about one meter in 100 years) it is now almost 2.0 km from the coast. It was probably built later than the Röse . The ship's setting is framed with a stone setting.
The two roes from the Bronze Age are also on the small burial ground south of Mjösjön. Röse No. 2 is right next to the ship's position. It has a diameter of about 12.0 m.
