Schiller International University

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schiller International University is a private American university with four campuses in four countries. These are located in Paris (France), Madrid (Spain), Heidelberg (Germany) and Largo (USA). The seat is Largo. According to university law, the German campus is to be classified as a legally dependent branch of the American university.

Walter Leibrecht founded an exchange program for Americans in Germany in 1964. This is where the university emerged. Today the university trains students from over 100 countries. Following the German tradition of naming a school after a historical personality, the university was named in honor of Friedrich Schiller , the German poet and philosopher. The first Schiller campus was in Kleiningersheim , on the other side of the Neckar from Schiller's birthplace Marbach. The German campus has been in Heidelberg since 1969. Until 2012 he lived in the Villa Krehl on Bergstrasse, a villa built in 1909 for the Heidelberg physician Ludolf von Krehl . In June 2012 the company moved to the Skylab building in Heidelberg's Bahnstadt district .

Similar to other internationally operating American universities, students can switch between locations in different countries without losing study time or credits. SIU is accredited in the USA by ACICS , an accreditation agency for private universities recognized by the US Department of Education, and received the German program accreditation from evalag (Evaluation Agency Baden-Württemberg) in 2016.

The SIU offers the following academic degrees :
