Schirbel

Schirbel is a technical term from iron processing and describes a piece of forged iron that was hewn out of the Zagel in an ironworks . Lupp , Zagel and Schirbel refer to iron at a specific point in time during processing. For example, Zagel is extracted from the Lupp by pressing out the slag , from which in turn Schirbel .

Further use of the term

The word Schirbel was used colloquially for shard or shards, both in the meaning of a piece and a vessel; hence the sample scraper .

Schirbel family

Schirbel is also a German family name with roots in Silesia . After the end of the Second World War, the name expanded mainly in the East Westphalia-Lippe region . Most of the name bearers currently live in Warburg , Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock and Bielefeld . The internationally successful swimmer and extreme athlete Urs-Hagen Günter Schirbel has lived in Bournemouth (England) with his wife and daughter since 2011.
