The castle Birkenleiten (also: precious seat Birkenleiten or formerly Bürkenleuthen ) is a two-storey-four-wing baroque building with a hipped roof in Munich district Untergiesing . It is located on the west bank of the Auer Mühlbach in Birkenleiten 15 .

history

In 1728 the valet Gregori Lachermayr was given thirty days' work of land for pasture and arable use by his employer, Elector Karl Albrecht . The property later came into the hands of the Winkelsberg family. A small castle ("Schlössl") built here was first mentioned in 1736 by Truchseß Johann Ignaz Winkelsberg. The property was raised to the "noble seat Birkenleiten". In 1745 a Countess zu Oettingen and Wallerstein donated the facility to the electoral cellar master Adrian la Frabrique. In 1817 the owner at the time, privy councilor Lorenz von Aichberger, sold it to the "caretaker" of a royal prison, Georg Reitter; In 1822 the property and land were taken over by a Mr. Mindsberger by marriage. In a former stable building adjoining the castle there were various production facilities, one after the other, from 1875 to 1957, such as a cotton spinning mill, a machine tool factory, an iron foundry and a metal etching shop. In 1957 the last facility was demolished. Today the castle is privately owned; a veterinary practice is operated here.
