Key number
The key number in the registration certificates I and II (previously: vehicle registration document and letter ) indicates the manufacturer, type and class of a vehicle .
The vehicle key number is used to precisely identify the vehicle and is entered in both the vehicle registration document and the vehicle registration document. The first, 4-digit, purely numerical vehicle key number is the manufacturer 's key number (HSN). Fixed numbers are reserved for each vehicle manufacturer. The second, 3-digit, alphanumeric vehicle key number is called the type key number (TSN) because it can be used to identify the vehicle type, i.e. the exact vehicle model.
The following can be found in the vehicle registration document:
- Manufacturer key number in point 2.1 ( e.g. 0588 for Audi )
- Type code number in point 2.2 ( e.g. ALD00035 for type A5 )
The complete key number for the above example is therefore: 0588 / ALD00035
With the help of the vehicle key numbers of manufacturers and vehicle types, more than 12,000 different vehicle classifications can be made. The vehicle code numbers are important for the amount of contributions in motor vehicle insurance; for each vehicle classification, a type class is defined in liability insurance and one in comprehensive insurance, which can be changed annually. The insurers classify the vehicles under certain aspects in certain type classes; if vehicles are involved in accidents with high costs, these types are upgraded. The regional classes are determined according to where the vehicle is registered. Experience has shown that the probability of accidents increases significantly in large cities, which is why these are always more expensive in insurance than in rural areas. If vehicle owners want to look for a new cheap insurance and make an insurance comparison on the Internet, they are always asked for the vehicle code first; Without this or with only vague information, no concrete insurance offer can be drawn up. It also happens that the vehicle key numbers only consist of "zeros" when vehicles are re- imports . There is the possibility of looking for the vehicle key number using the appropriate tools on the Internet. It must always be borne in mind that a correct premium calculation in the motor vehicle insurance can only take place if the motor vehicle key numbers are given correctly.
Using the pollutant code (the last two digits of the "key number for 1" in the old vehicle registration document and registration, in the new registration certificate part 1 these are the last two digits of the code in field 14.1), the emission class of the vehicle and thus the vehicle tax to be determined.
The contribution of a car insurance depends, among other things, on the type of vehicle. For this purpose, the individual vehicle types are divided into type classes. The type class directory lists the vehicle types on the market with their associated data and contains the type classes for motor vehicle liability and vehicle insurance.
The type class directory contains:
- Manufacturer
- Type (sales description)
- Performance data (kW, PS, displacement)
- Key figures for manufacturer and type
- Type classes for motor vehicle liability, fully comprehensive and partially comprehensive insurance
- Information on immobilizers
- Production period of the car
Within the vehicle manufacturers sorted according to alphabet, the vehicle types are listed in ascending order according to kW / PS output and, if the same kW / PS output, according to the size of the cubic capacity.
The type class directory appears once a year on October 1st and is updated regularly.
