The Battle of Sulci was a naval battle that took place during the First Punic War in 258 BC. Chr. Between the Romans and the Carthaginians before sulci (today's Sant'Antioco ) off the southwest coast of Sardinia was held. It ended with a victory for the Romans under their consul Gaius Sulpicius Paterculus over the Carthaginians under Hannibal Gisko . With this, the Romans again demonstrated their strength at sea after the victory at Mylae , without being able to completely drive the Carthaginians, who kept a base in Olbia , from Sardinia.
