The battle of Wangas was a military conflict on the edge of the Merovingian fratricidal war . It took place in 610 in the Swiss plateau between the Alemanni and the Burgundians . Historians do not agree on the exact location. Some assume that Wangas was today's Wangen an der Aare . Others believe that it is Niederwangen near Bern , because several warrior graves were found there that can be dated to this period. The Alamanni, instigated by Theudebert II , penetrated the area of his brother Theuderich II and devastated Avenches . The Burgundians opposed them at Wangas and were crushed.
