The Battle of Vasopetra ( Greek Μάχη της Βαζόπετρας ) is a skirmish during the Balkan Wars between Greece and Bulgaria . In mid-March 1913 Bulgarian troops took up positions on the Angitis Plain. Thereupon Greece increased its troops in this area. The 9th Company of the 20th Infantry - Regiment of the 7th Division was on the pass north of Eleftheres stationed. The company consisted of American volunteers with Greek roots.

On the afternoon of April 26, 1913, the Greek troops were attacked by the Bulgarian army . The fighting continued until the next day. 15 Greek soldiers were killed. Nothing is known about Bulgarian losses. The Greeks were able to successfully defend the pass. The fallen were buried on site.

In memory of the fallen Greek soldiers, a memorial was erected at the site of the battle. Celebrations in memory of the dead are held here every April.
