The battle tower - today's landmark of Morlautern - was built in 1893. It is intended to commemorate the three-day battle of Morlautern in November 1793. The following can be read on the inscription above the entrance of the battle tower: “Battle of November 28th, 29th and 30th 1793. After stubborn and bloody fighting, the French under General Hoche of the Prussians and Saxony under Duke Carl Wilhelm von Braunschweig and General von Kalkreut thrown down into the valley. ”The 8.4 m high tower, made of red sandstone , with its 7.4 m high platform serves as a viewing tower and offers a good view of the Palatinate Forest . The key to the battle tower can be borrowed from a nearby nursery for a deposit.
