Slaughterhouse (Aurich)

The slaughterhouse is a listed building ensemble in the East Frisian district town of Aurich ( Aurich district , Lower Saxony ). It has the address Breiter Weg 24. The ensemble consists of a plastered cold store (machine house around 1900); the small animal slaughterhouse, a raw brick building with a gable roof (machine house from 1889); the cattle slaughter room , a Rohziegelbau of 1889 and a traufständig related to the farm house. A youth center has been using the building since 1980.

From 1926 at the latest, the Aurich Jew Ruben Samson ran the slaughterhouse and was able to hold it until July 1937. He then sold his company. Samson was later, in the July 29, 1942 at the Theresienstadt concentration camp deported . His further fate is unclear, the date of death unknown.
