text

The original lyrics are:

Sleep, my prince! Let it rest,
lambs and birds now;
Garden and meadow fall silent;
Not a single bee hums either;
Luna
peek into the window with a silver glow .
  Sleep by the silver glow,
  sleep, my little prince, go to sleep!
    Go to sleep! go to sleep!

Even in the castle
everything is already lulled into slumber;
Don't move a mouse any more;
The cellar and kitchen are empty.
Only in the maid's room
does a melting oh sound.
  What kind of oh may that be?
  Sleep, my little prince, fall asleep!
    Go to sleep! go to sleep!

Who is happier than you?
Nothing but pleasure and peace!
Playwork and sugar full up;
And Karessen on sale too!
Everything worried and ready,
That only my little prince doesn't scream!
  What will that be in the future?
  Sleep, my little prince, fall asleep!
    Go to sleep! go to sleep!

Other versions

The song appeared in a modified version in the film 7 Dwarfs - The forest is not enough . There it was sung by Cosma Shiva Hagen in the role of Snow White.
