Die Schlangenbrut is a quarterly, autonomous magazine for women interested in feminist, theology and spirit . It was founded in 1983 by seven Protestant and Catholic theologians and is the oldest German-language specialist journal in this field.

In 2014 the brood of snakes stopped. Since March 1, 2014, the successor magazine has been published quarterly under the title INTA. Interreligious Forum .

content

The brood saw itself as a forum for discussions and currents within feminist theology. Each issue was dedicated to its own thematic focus, which was illuminated by texts by and for women from various religious traditions and social contexts. Reports of events, portraits and reviews were also published.

Surname

The provocative and combative name was intended to reflect the ambiguity of women's history and women's life in religious contexts: in the archaic cultures of the Mediterranean region, the snake is a symbol of wisdom and life, but in the patriarchal traditions of Judaism and Christianity it is a symbol of feminine fallibility to sin and the evil . This should reflect the ambivalence in which women find themselves who have to deal with the patriarchal legacy in their religion and at the same time want to pursue a women-specific, emancipated theology.
