Lean state
The term lean state describes the smallest possible, efficiently working, “streamlined” state administration that is advocated above all by economic liberals.

Content (such as conceptually) the term closely follows the concept of lean management (English. Lean management ) to. Here, its area of application is shifted from the commercial enterprise - in an adapted, modified form - to the state administration ( lean government ).
The focus should be on a changed self-image of the state away from the bureaucratic administrative state towards a citizen-oriented service state .
In contrast to the concept of the minimal state , the lean state does not affect the competencies of the state per se, but rather concepts are developed that are intended to enable more efficient administration, high efficiency and better performance of tasks in the sense of these competencies.
