Schlegel's restaurant Gröden (Brandenburg)
Schlegel's restaurant is under monument protection standing guesthouse with an associated storage facility in the Schraden - Municipal Val Gardena in southern Brandenburg Elbe-Elster . Here you can find it on Ortrander Straße not far from the Val Gardena Sparkasse. It is recorded in the local monument register under registration number 09135399.
Building description and history
The structure is a single-storey building with a half-hip roof . The origin is dated in writing to the year 1830.
The inn, which has been in operation to the present day, goes back to a pub acquired in 1830 by Karl Weise from Val Gardena, along with all of its buildings and lands, and has been family-owned ever since. Karl Weises son Theodor Weise took over the inn in 1904 and ran it until 1949. In that year he leased it to his son-in-law Hans Schlegel and finally bequeathed it in 1962 to his daughter Johanna Schlegel, nee. Wise. From 1977 to 1999 the restaurant was run by her son Claus Schlegel († 1999). Since his death, the house has been run by his widow Ingrid and her daughter Kerstin Handel to the present day.
Other architectural monuments in Val Gardena are the Martinskirche , the former home and studio of Professor Hans Nadler , who became famous as a painter , a local memorial for the fallen and the building of the Val Gardena kindergarten. The building of the former “Rautenstrauchs Erben” inn is also a listed building.
