Schleifmühlviertel
When grinding Mühlviertel refers to the area in the field of Schleifmühlgasse the 4th Vienna district Wieden . The Grätzl is close to the Naschmarkt and the Technical University and cannot be clearly delimited from the neighboring Freihausviertel (in the area of the former Freihaus on the Wieden ). history
In the area of today's Schleifmühlgasse there was once a tributary of the Wien River , which was used as a mill stream to operate the mills located there. A weapon grinding and polishing mill, mentioned in a document as early as 1582, was also located here. A settlement around this mill was called Schleifmühl and later Mühlfeld .
