Ernst Hoffmann and lawyer Gustav Rendtorff.

The chairmen were:

  • 1984–1953 Gustav Rendtorff
  • 1953–1958 Ernst Hoffmann
  • 1959–1961 Hermann Kümmel
  • 1961–1988 Friedrich Schmidt-Siebeth
  • 1988-1993 Irmgard Khuen

History of the library

Hoffmann saved about 200 writings from the years 1933–1944. Sievert set up the first library in an adjoining room in the Kiel city archive. Due to renovation work in the city archive, new rooms had to be found in 1975. The books were stored at a forwarding agent for 10 years until the 60 standard meters of books found a new home at Harmsstrasse 13 in Kiel in August 1984. The rooms were too small and not handicapped accessible. In February 1997, the company moved into new premises at Von-der-Goltz-Allee 48 in Kiel with 130 shelf meters. The limited space led to a move to Königsweg 103 in Kiel in 2001. In mid-2006 the entire inventory was transferred to the holdings of the Schleswig-Holstein State Archives , where it has the department signature "SHF".
