Schleswig-Holstein Fire Brigade Cross of Honor
The Schleswig-Holstein Fire Brigade Cross of Honor was donated on April 25, 1998 by the then Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein Heide Simonis in recognition of the special importance and recognition of the work of fire brigades in the state.
Foundation purpose
The fire brigade cross of honor is awarded by the chairman of the state fire brigade association for special merits in the fire service and can be worn as a sign of general recognition in the form of a fire brigade badge of honor.
Graduation
The foundation of the cross of honor took place in three stages, which are:
- 1st stage: Fire Brigade Cross of Honor in bronze (on ribbon)
- 2nd level: Fire Brigade Cross of Honor in silver (on ribbon)
- 3rd level: Fire Brigade Cross of Honor in gold (as a plug-in cross )

Appearance and texture
The fire brigade honor cross is a one-sided white enameled cross with a wide blue outer edge and with red flames running diagonally to the cross . The colored coat of arms of Schleswig-Holstein is placed in the center of the front of the cross. It rests on the fire brigade symbol Rescue-Extinguishing-Rescue-Protect . In the lower area of the fire brigade symbol, a wreath of oak leaves is shown, which is held in bronze, silver or gold depending on the level awarded. The reverse of the cross of honor shows the inscription: For services in the fire service . In the fire brigade honor cross in gold, all non-enamelled metal parts are gold, in the fire brigade honor cross in silver silver and bronze in the bronze level.
Wearing style
The ribbon of level 1 and level 2 is red with a blue border. When awarded in silver, it is provided with a silver border. In the bronze step with a bronze-colored border. Both ribbon orders are worn on the left side of the chest. The fire brigade cross of honor in gold, on the other hand, is worn as a plug-in cross on the left breast pocket. The corresponding awarded level is worn as a miniature edition on the strap buckle. The women's version is made in the form of a ribbon bow. The cross of honor is worn in a buttonhole design for civilian suits. If you are awarded the Cross of Honor again, the previously awarded Cross of Honor does not have to be discarded and can be carried on.
Authorization to propose
The chairmen of the member associations of the Schleswig-Holstein State Fire Brigade Association and the heads of the professional fire brigades are entitled to propose the award of the Cross of Honor . The submitted proposals are to be forwarded to the chairman of the state fire brigade association.
Award practice
All award winners receive a certificate with the signature of the chairman of the regional fire brigade association when they receive the cross of honor. The presentation is made by the chairman of the state fire brigade association or one of the members of the board, whereby the delegation to the chairman of the member associations or the heads of the professional fire brigades is possible. The cross of honor itself becomes the property of the borrower when it is awarded. In the event of his death, it will be kept as a souvenir for his loved ones. There is no obligation to return.
Others
The requested offices themselves bear the costs of the fire brigade cross of honor and the ownership deeds.
