Art farters

The French Joseph Pujol (1857–1945) was one of the most famous art farters.

Flatulist or Flatulenzkünstler ( engl. : Flatulist ) have the ability to pitch the downdrafts to modulate , and are able to produce such controls, the corresponding noise that chords or recognizable melodies arise.

history

By 1900, the genre of artificial farting was popular enough to feed artists such as the French Joseph Pujol ( Le Pétomane ) full-time. Pujol also performed his show at the Moulin Rouge in Paris .

In André Heller's avant-garde amusement park Luna Luna - a great pleasure , several art farters performed in 1987 in the so-called “Palace of the Winds”. The response from the audience varied. While some guests were enthusiastic, others accused the organizers of the noises only coming from the tape.

One of the most famous artificial farters today is the Briton Paul Oldfield, who goes under the pseudonym " Mr. Methane ". Although he wanted to retire in 2006, he still appears occasionally, most recently in October 2009 on the RTL show Das Supertalent .

Also known is the American "Will the Farter", who became known through appearances on the Howard Stern Show and Jackass .

Literary processing

In 2001, the literary magazine neue deutsche literature published Marcus Hammerschmitt's tale Death of an Artist , which deals with the story of the art fanatic Filemon Geprägs.

In pop culture

The fictional Canadian fart comedian duo Terrance and Phillip appear in some episodes of the series South Park and the film based on it.
