Mr. Methane (actually Paul Oldfield ; * 1966 in Macclesfield ) is a British art farther .

Life

According to his own admission , he recognized his talent at the age of fifteen while doing yoga exercises. Even during school days, his demonstrations in front of classmates were a topic of conversation, so he gave regular performances. After his apprenticeship with British Rail , he met Paul Genders in Derbyshire in the late 1980s , who played cover band " The Screaming Beavers " in Macclesfield and took him as a guest artist into the program. After his performances were recognized by the public, he decided to pursue a career as a professional artist. In his professional time from 1991 onwards, Mr. Methane appeared in a skin-tight, light green-pink costume with a cape and mask. His performances have taken him to Europe , North America , Asia and Australia , where he also appeared at the Juste pour rire Festival in Montreal, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival . In addition to numerous television and radio appearances, including some on the US radio show by Howard Stern , he was best known in Sweden and Japan .

His albumMr Methane.com ”, published in 2000, contains, among other things, his interpretations of the Danube Waltz , the 1812 Overture and the Swan Lake . The album was produced by the former Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow , who was also his manager at times. This was followed by a Christmas album with the title " Merry Methane " and a video cassette or DVD with the title " Mr Methane Lets Rip! “, Released under his own label BO Productions Ltd. .

Oldfield claims to have been the only professional "flatulist" of his time. He retired in 2006. Obviously he continues to appear, because in August 2007 he was on Sat.1 in “ Clever! - The show that creates knowledge ”and in May 2009 he faced the jury of ' Britain's Got Talent ' (on ITV1 ), which he could not convince with his Blue Danube Waltz .
