FIFA 98

FIFA 98 ( Road to World Cup ) is a computer game from the FIFA series developed by EA Sports . It was released in 1997 for the PC , Sega Mega Drive , Sega Saturn , SNES , Nintendo 64 , PlayStation and the Game Boy .

Game flow

In friendly matches or a self-defined league, the player controls the players of a football team in one of several international leagues or at the 1998 World Cup . He has the choice between the club teams of various national leagues and all national teams that took part in qualifying for the 1998 World Cup. With the latter he can re-enact the World Cup. 16 stadiums from 16 countries are available as a venue.

FIFA 98 was the last game in this series in which the player could play indoor soccer games. Only in 2019 did the mode come back in FIFA 20 .

The commentators for the soccer games in the German version are Martin Siebel, Wolf-Dieter Poschmann and Werner Hansch .

On-line

The most important innovation of Fifa 98 was the first online mode . It was now possible to compete online against other players via modem.

Soundtrack

The title song of the game is the 1997 song Song 2 by the British band Blur . The menu music comes from the DJ duo The Crystal Method .
