Östanå Castle
Östanå Castle ( Swedish Östanå slott ) is located between Stockholm and Norrtälje in the historical province of Uppland .
Östanå was one of the castles in the Stockholm archipelago , which in 1719 by the Russian army pillaged were. Vira bruk was founded on the castle estate in 1629 , a supplier of arms to the Swedish state and the Swedish crown during the Thirty Years' War and up to the 18th century.
Östanå is beautifully situated on terraces that lead into the sea. It is surrounded by a baroque garden and a park with strong growth.
The main building was built between 1791 and 1794 based on designs by Degenaer and Louis Jean Desprez for Simon Bernhard Hebbe (1726-1803). The castle consists of a two-storey rectangle and a central building with three floors.
history
Östanå was owned by Anders Isaksson Banér in 1433. Östanå Castle was then inherited by the Banér, Bååt (15th century to 1654), Fleming and Wrede families.
The wooden church at Roslags-Kulla, which was built at the beginning of the 17th century, is located near Östanå.
