Altdorf Castle (Hallein)
The Altdorf Castle (also called Schlossbauer in Adneter Riedl ) is located in the city of Hallein in the district of the same name in Salzburg (Altendorffstrasse 1).
history
The castle was the former residence of the Lords of Alben . This sex held the office of heirs in Laufen and in Salzburg the office of heir mouth-giving ; the family died out in 1561 with Eustachius von Albm .
The castle is almost certainly the property of the bishop of Chiemsee Georg Altdorfer . The building later came into the ownership of the Chiemsee diocese and then that of the Jesuits . In the 19th century it became the Schlossbauer farm or today's inn.
Altdorf Castle today
Altdorf Castle is a three-storey building covered by a half-hip roof. Part of the original surrounding wall is still there. Red marble window reveals have also been preserved on the first floor; These borders are painted on the other floors.
Today Fritz Chizzola's Schlossbauer inn is located here. The legend of the castle builder, who is tempted by a devil in the form of a woman and dies, is entwined around the property. This site of the accident was marked by a stone wayside shrine until the last road was built; however, the column probably reminds of an accident that occurred during the drift on the Almbach . This is a red marble column with the engraving: “FIF 1757”.
