The Bon Repos Castle is a multi-building Baroque castle complex in the Čihadla district of the Stará Lysá municipality in the Czech Republic . It is surrounded by a park and is located northeast of the village of Čihadla on the wooded hill Čihadlo (239 m) above the Jizera valley .

history

In 1715 the owner of the Lysá nad Labem estate , Franz Anton von Sporck , bought the Čihadlo from the Benatek estate . As a summer residence and starting point for his siskin hunts, Sporck had a hunting lodge built on the mountain that was named Hieronymusberg . In 1718 the castle and the neighboring hermitage of St. Jerome completed. The sculptural work is partly by Matthias Bernhard Braun . A Chinese pavilion was added later.

Together with the entire Lissa lordship, Sporck sold the castle to Count Franz Josef Czernin von Chudenitz in 1722 . After Count Czernin got into financial distress, Sporck bought Lissa back. After Spork's death, the building began to deteriorate in 1738. In 1768, the Prague Archbishop Anton Peter Příchovský of Příchovice bought the ruined castle and gave it to his reign Benatek. Příchovský had the facility rebuilt and expanded until 1770. He gave her the name La Maison de Bon Repos . From 1816 Leopold Felix Graf zu Thun and Hohenstein was one of the other owners of Bon Repos . Bedřich Smetana visited Bon Repos as a music teacher for the Thun and Hohenstein family from 1845 to 1847.

In 1885 the castle became the property of the Agricultural Creditbank for Bohemia in Prague. Two years later it was acquired by the kk privileged Österreichische Länderbank . In 1905 Count Ferdinand Kinsky bought the castle on Lysá with the Benatek goods. After the Second World War, the castle was nationalized and handed over to the Czechoslovak Army . Between 1962 and 1964, renovations were carried out in the style of socialist realism .

In 2004, the army sold the run-down property to Datart Megastore spol sro in Letňany, which has since partially renovated it and expanded it into a conference and recreation center. Today the owner is Zámek Bon Repos spol sro, which is also part of the Charles Butler group
