Brunzelwaldau Castle ( Polish: Zamek w Broniszowie ) is the ruin of a castle in Broniszow (German: Brunzelwaldau ) in Gmina Kożuchów ( Freystadt ) in the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland.

history

The history of the castle goes back to the first fortifications in the 13th century, which Count Bronislaus von Beuthen had built. After 1570 the estate was owned by the von Kottwitz family , under whom today's palace with an L-shaped floor plan was built. Around 1600 the castle was raised and a corner tower was added. In 1606 the outer walls were decorated with sgraffiti and plastered over in baroque style until the end of the century. From 1731 the von Skronsky barons were the owners and founded a hospital near the castle. In 1839 August Freiherr von Tschammer und Quaritz acquired the castle and added neo-baroque building elements to the ensemble.

In the 1950s, the castle was used as a warehouse for an agricultural production cooperative and has been restored since 2010.
