Burkersdorf Castle is the name of a baroque mansion in the Burkersdorf district of the municipality of Harth-Pöllnitz in Thuringia . It is a listed building .

architecture

It is a rectangular, two-storey plastered building with a high hipped mansard roof . On the north side there is a three-axis central projection with an early classical portal and an original wooden door. Above it is an arbor , which rests on two Tuscan columns . The slate-covered roof areas are structured by four rows of differently designed dormers .

The farm yard was connected to the north, some of its buildings have disappeared. The park is surrounded by a quarry stone wall on the south and west side with a larger pond and old trees.

history

In 1205 a manor was first mentioned in Burkersdorf, which was owned by various noble families in the following centuries, including the well-known Counts of Carlowitz and the barons of Goltz . Around 1730, the house was built in the baroque style that exists today with a mighty hipped roof by Hans Carl v. Carlowitz and his wife Susanne von Seydewitz have been renewed on the foundation walls of a previous medieval building. In 1923, the Prussian Lieutenant General Oskar Freiherr von der Goltz became the owner of the 150 hectare property, his family owned the property until it was expropriated in 1949. Subsequently, the castle continued to be used by the state until 1994, most recently as a retirement and nursing home . Today the house is privately owned again.
